Modern Flooring Trends

Hardwood

With hardwood flooring, the trends tend towards wider planks that come in deeper and more luxurious colors.  Distressed and hand scrapped are very popular and more exotic choices are making it in the choice list.  The traditional unfinished oak strip remains popular but walnut, teak, birch, white oak, cherry and mahogany are also fine choices.  Mixing media and custom-made accents and borders are hardwood design trends that are gaining fashionable prominence right now.  And with the green revolution going on, salvaged hardwoods are becoming more and more appealing.

Concrete

Modern flooring trend has opened its doors to concrete and homeowners embraced and loved the stylish durability that this foundation offers.  Once a floor type limitedly used for garages, concrete was revolutionized by technology to come in a delightful plethora of colors and styles and the best part is the relatively low maintenance required.  There are several popular concrete floor options that have taken interior design
by storm.

* Polished concrete gives that ultra sleek look without heavy labor and maintenance.  The richer the color your floor is of, the more dramatic the effect.

* From patios to your interior, stamped concrete can sensationalize the way any room looks.  It can be made to look like brick, tile and even wood grain with a very wide range of designs to achieve if your contractor use stencils.

* Scored concrete offers intricate styles achieved by a combination of colors and patterns that can easily become a focal point.

* Concrete overlays is considered to be the cheapest and easiest way to spruce up the floor through coating the floor with overlays that show off fabulous colors and designs.

Carpet

Luxurious and stylish, carpet has never failed to add a touch of comfort as well as character in rooms that it is laid in.  Modern flooring trends with regards to carpeting are highly influenced by neutrals and the colors of the earth.  Other than solid colors; color schemes reflecting global festivities, organic gardens, and urban greens are fashionable.  The richness can be felt through the carpet’s surface that can be linear-inspired, textural, tonal, and patterned geometrically.
