Steps To take To Start Fixing Your Credit

After you make your list you will then need to take action to correct these derogatory items. To clean up most of the information you can implement some simple self credit repair methods. Do not be overwhelmed, this is easy to do and is the best credit help you can do for yourself.

This is easily done by drafting a credit dispute letter that has the account number, your social security number and name and address. Also include a reason for disputing the account and provide any proof that proves the information wrong if you have it. Send these letters to the reporting bureaus.

When they receive the letter they will contact the original account holder and ask for validation of the account. Most lenders are too busy to provide this and will just ignore it, after all why tie up staff dealing with old information on people who are no longer clients? If the original account issuer fails to respond within 30 days the information will come off your account.

Keep in mind that you should also start paying down excessive debt and make every effort to pay on time because if you are paying late or still accumulating debt your are basically working against yourself and your credit repair efforts. Darin Sewell
